Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 1, 2026
This policy explains what personal data Chapzine collects, why, and the rights you have over it. Chapzine is operated by the Chapzine team (“we”, “us”), the data controller. Questions: hello@chapzine.com.
What we collect
- Account data — email, and any name, username, bio, location, avatar and links you add.
- Content you create — projects, photographs, field notes, sequences, and the comments and direct messages you write.
- Technical data — IP address, browser/device information, and error diagnostics, collected automatically to keep the service working and secure.
Why we use it, and our legal basis
- To provide the service (your account, your content, messaging) — performance of our contract with you.
- To keep it secure and reliable (error monitoring, abuse prevention, rate limiting) — our legitimate interests.
- To contact you about your account (confirmation, password resets) — performance of our contract.
Service providers
We share data with processors who run the service on our behalf. We do not sell your data.
- Supabase — database, authentication, and photo storage.
- Cloudflare — hosting and, for the optional AI assistance features, processing of the text you submit to those tools. When you use an AI suggestion, the relevant text from your project is sent to Cloudflare’s AI service to generate the response.
- Resend — sending transactional email (confirmation, password reset).
- Sentry — error monitoring and diagnostics (EU region).
- Netlify — application hosting.
Where your data is stored
Our infrastructure and data are hosted in the EU (Supabase and Sentry are configured to EU regions). Where any provider processes data outside the EEA, appropriate safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) apply.
How long we keep it
We keep your account and content for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, your profile, projects, sessions, posts and uploaded photos are permanently deleted; comments and messages you sent to others are kept but anonymized. Backups and error logs are retained for a limited period and then expire.
Your rights
If you are in the EEA/UK, you can request to access, correct, export, or delete your data, and object to or restrict certain processing.
- Deletion — you can permanently delete your account yourself from your profile settings, at any time.
- For any other request, contact hello@chapzine.com. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
Cookies & local storage
We use only strictly necessary cookies and browser storage — to keep you signed in and to keep the service secure. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. Because we set no non-essential cookies, no consent banner is required.
Age
Chapzine is not intended for children. You must be at least 18 years old to create an account.
Changes
We may update this policy; we will revise the “last updated” date above and, for material changes, notify you. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
